An elderly researcher arrives at the reknowned library of Kaldahar, hoping to gain access to forbidden documents held in a private collection in order to complete a research project that he hopes will gain him a prestigious academic position. When he is denied access to the information he needs, his attempts to manipulate the situation reveal more than he was anticipating.
