Lamentations of the Obelisk

In a forest steeped in unstable magic, Arianna has spent her life suppressing a gift she never chose. Marked by mixed heritage and bound by an arcane torc that restrains her Mindspeech, she has learned to survive quietly beneath the watchful authority of Church and Empire alike.

When Jirak, a fugitive accused of heresy and political violence, stumbles to her door, survival becomes a matter of flight. Pursued by the Order of the Jade Sepulchre, the two are driven deep into the ancient Svarelek Forest, where the Aether thickens and thought itself begins to fracture. What begins as an escape soon becomes something more unsettling: the forest is not merely wild, but altered. And at its heart lies an artefact older than either Church or Empire.

As suspicion grows between them and the Justiciars close in, Arianna is forced to confront the limits of suppression, the cost of knowledge, and the hunger that lies beneath power itself. In a world where faith, rebellion and arcane science all claim dominion over truth, she must decide whether to remain contained or risk becoming something unbound.

Lamentations of the Obelisk is a dark, atmospheric fantasy about inheritance, containment and the peril of awakening forces that were never meant to be touched, blending metaphysical horror with political tension, morally complex characters and magic that feels ancient, dangerous and poorly understood.
