Social media celebrity chef Alice Becvar has recently moved from London to the small rural town of Brookhaven to open an artisan bakery. Despite her fame, her business has been having serious financial problems, and she is hoping that in her new home in this quaint and charming rural setting, she will be able to find the inspiration to get it back on its feet.

When she discovers a local market trader selling an unknown exotic fruit he calls glitterberries, she feels her prayers have been answered, and decides to use them in her recipes. The new recipes are a huge success, and could easily solve all her problems if only she could get larger quantities of them, but the market trader is uncooperative, and Alice decides to try to track down the source of the unknown fruit herself by whatever means necessary.

Her quest is hampered by the onset of weird hallucinatory experiences as she begins to experience visions of a strange world, but as she learns to trust the visions, she finds they lead her closer to the source of the mysterious berries.
